PEN – Peruvian Sol at Online Casinos in 2024
Since gambling in Peru is legal, players have a choice of hundreds of mobile online casinos – both onshore and offshore. However, you'll probably want to narrow your choice to casinos that accept PEN currency. It makes sense since you will avoid having to pay currency conversion fees.
Unlike casinos that accept USD, EUR or GBP, casinos that accept Peruvian sol are less common. Still, they do exist and are growing since Peru legalized online gambling in the country.

About the Peruvian Sol
The Peruvian sol ↱ is the official currency of Peru ever since it replaced the Peruvian inti in 1991. 'Inti' was the name of the Incan Sun God. The word 'sol' is Spanish for sun, continuing on the theme.
The sol was the result of hyperinflation in the late 80s, which forced the government to introduce the sol. It is issued by the Central Bank of Reserve of Perú. Today, inflation is at a much more comfortable rate of about 2.80%. The currency is often quoted in terms of US dollars. At present 1 PEN is the equivalent to about 0.28 USD or 0.24 EUR.
FAQ for Peruvian Sol at casinos
Yes, online gambling in Peru is legal for both residents and tourists. The same is true for land-based casinos where at present there are over 50 dotting the country of 1.28 million km2. It means that Peruvians can find both local operators as well as offshore ones allowing for more choice. Any operator targeting players from Peru needs a license from the federal government. Still, there is no need for an offshore operator to have a physical presence in the country.
It's also a good idea to choose a casino that is also licensed and regulated in a reputable iGaming jurisdiction such as Malta by the Malta Gaming Authority.
Online casinos that accept players from Peru are generally safe provided that you take some reasonable steps to protect yourself. Aside from being licensed in Peru, ensure that the casino is licensed and ideally regulated in a reputable iGaming jurisdiction.
Fortunately, Europe has some effective regulators such as the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC), Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and the Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen). These regulators are responsible for enforcing public & player protection and anti-money laundering. Failing to comply can result in warnings, license suspensions, license cancellations or punitive fines. Casinos licensed here can only offer games of chance which are certified as fair by independent third-parties. It means that the outcomes as determined by random number generators (RNGs) are not fixed or tampered with.
All of the casinos that we promote at Fortunaonlinecasinos.com are licensed and regulated in one or more of these jurisdictions.
There are other licensing jurisdictions such as Curacao, Costa Rica and Panama which offer less protection, to varying degrees. Some of these jurisdictions are more about ticking boxes than offering any real protection to players.
At the very bottom are unlicensed casinos which you should avoid as they significantly raise the possibility of running into problems. The risks of playing here for real money do not justify any possible benefits.
Although online casinos accepting PEN are less common than some other currencies such as EUR/GBP/USD/CAD, there is still plenty of choices. Some players may decide to make USD deposits instead, but it may require foreign exchange fees which can be expensive (up to 5%).
If you happen to hold another currency such as US dollars, it might make sense for you to deposit, play and cashout in that currency also. Just keep in mind that when you set up a new player account, you'll likely be asked to choose a currency which you may not be able to change afterwards.
Peru casinos with PEN currency will allow you to make sol deposits/sol withdrawals. Usually, your chosen deposit method will also determine your withdrawal method. If one does not exist, then the casino will typically default to a payment method such as a bank transfer. For example, most voucher payment methods do not allow you to withdraw funds.
New players to online casinos with sol will typically qualify for a casino bonus such as a match deposit bonus, cashback bonus or free spins. Ultimately, it depends on the policy of the casino.
Online casino bonuses are optional and require you to opt-in. Sometimes you will need to enter a bonus code, but it may be easier by ticking a box or selecting it from a pulldown menu. Make sure you read the terms and conditions relating to wagering requirements as there are typically playthrough/rollover/turnover requirements before you can cashout.
Some players find bonuses too restrictive and opt not to use them. It's up to you!
The universe of payment methods is growing every month, and you can find several options which ultimately depends on the casino and country. Each method has pros and cons, so consider them carefully before choosing one.
There are electronic wallets (e-wallets) which can hold many different currencies. For example, EcoPayz is a popular e-wallet that holds Peruvian sol.
There are also crypto wallets (for altcoins like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Tether, Ethereum and Dogecoin), but not all casinos will accept them.
Credit cards such as Mastercard or Visa remain an option for Peruvians.
Astropay is a popular voucher payment method which may be accepted at some online casinos.
