MXN – Mexican Peso Casinos

Mexico flag

Gambling at an online casino can be safe provided that you take reasonable precautions. This means that it's always a good idea to only play at mobile online casinos that are licensed and regulated, preferably in a reputable jurisdiction. Examples of regulators with good reputations include the MGA, UKGC or the Spelinspektionen.

The role of a gambling regulator is to ensure that operators adhere to strict practices that include player protection, transparency and fairness.

Another consideration is the payment options and policies, including whether the casino accepts Mexican pesos.

Online casinos that accept Mexican pesos (MXN) are less common than casinos that accept USD, GBP or EUR for example, but they do exist.

Online Casinos for players with Mexican Peso

We've put together an online casino guide where we list our best online casinos that accept Mexican pesos. These casinos are all licensed and regulated. Each one comes with a casino review where we talk about slots/casino games/live casino games, casino bonus, wagering requirements, payment methods and more.

About the Mexican peso

The Mexican peso ↱ is the official currency of Mexico with an origin dating back to the Spanish dollar during the time of Spanish imperialism. The Mex$ is divided into 100 (¢) centavos and is issued by The Bank of Mexico.

The currency is very liquid and is the tenth most traded in the world, the third most traded in North America behind only the United States dollar and the Canadian dollar.

The currency underwent a revaluation in 1993. Did you know that the '$' first appeared on the Mexican peso? It preceded even the US dollar. Another interesting fact is that, until the first half of the 19th century, the Mexican peso was widely used in colonial Canada and the United States.

FAQ

While gambling in Mexico is technically legal, it is subject to obtaining a government licence from the competent federal authority. The Federal Games and Draws Law (Gaming Law) was introduced in 1948 to regulate gaming in Mexico.

It was supplemented in September 2004 with the publication of the Regulations of the Federal Games and Draws Law (Gaming Regulations). In October 2012 and a year, later regulations were amended in a bid to modernise the law pertaining to slot machines and electronic games of skill.

Fast forward to today, and Mexican law does not legally define online gambling. Still, online gambling must be authorised by the Ministry for the Interior (SEGOB ↱).

Online gambling in Mexico is not explicitly regulated. However, SEGOB gaming activities are authorised, supervised and controlled by SEGOB, which has broad discretion.

Some Mexicans looking to play at online casinos have turned to unlicensed offshore operators. Part of this is because of out-dated laws as well as the greater choice present. We do not advise players from Mexico to play at unauthorised online casinos.

Instead, we aim to let players know that if they are resident outside of Mexico and hold Mexican pesos, then some good casinos accept their money.

Casinos that accept MXN are generally safe provided that you take some necessary precautions. The most important one is to make sure that the casino is licensed and regulated, preferably in a reputable jurisdiction. Two examples are Malta through the MGA or United Kingdom through the UKGC.

Reputable regulators ensure that casinos are fair and transparent, protect players and society and comply with international anti-money laundering laws. Operators that fail to meet their requirements risk being fined, warned, have their licensed suspended or cancelled.

Casinos that accept MXN may not be as broad as other currencies such as USD, EUR, GBP or CAD. This does not mean that online casinos accepting MXN do not exist. We present several of them on this page.

Some players may decide to exchange their Mexican pesos into another more broadly-accepted currency. We don't recommend this as it will cost you exchange fees and possibly even expose you to currency fluctuations in the value of real money in your player account.

It stands to reason that online casinos accepting MXN will also accept MXN deposits and withdrawals. There are several ways of depositing and withdrawing Mexican pesos.

If you want to find out first, then you check the payments section of the website or, if still unclear, speak to a member of customer support.

If you're already signed up, then the casino will list them when you go to the cashier section which will require you to open an account. Under most circumstances, anti-money laundering requirements dictate that players must use the same deposit and withdrawal method. Where this is not possible, the casino will use a method such as a bank transfer.

Nowadays, you can find casino bonuses and live casino bonuses almost anywhere. Whether you qualify will depend on the country you are in and the policy of the operator. Bonuses may take the shape of a cashback bonus, a sign-up bonus or other.

They act as sweeteners to encourage players to register at a casino, or, if already registered, to continue playing. They are optional, so it's up to you as to whether you want to use it.

Some payment methods are country-specific, so you won't be able to find them elsewhere. Most countries offer multiple payment options, including e-wallets, bank transfers, credit cards like Visa and Mastercard, mobile payment methods, voucher payments (such as Astropay) and instant banking.

If you use electronic wallets, then ones like Skrill, Neteller and EcoPayz accept Mexican pesos. The benefit of e-wallets is that you can both send money from your e-wallet to your casino player account and withdraw money from your player account to your e-wallet.

Different payment methods come with their own set of pros and cons, so keep that in mind, when deciding on a method.
